I had to post this......

....just so I don't lose it!!  

I did a search on Photobucket for 'crochet' to try and find something for this little blog.  

Be careful what you wish for!  LOL!!  This piece or pieces had to take A LOT of time and ingenuity.  I admire anyone who could design and make something like this.  The intricacy of the work is phenomenal.  This is such a beautiful piece.  I think it's some sort of either lace or tat work.   I can't remember what this technique is called, so if anyone who happens to see this, let me know if you do!  I'm going to try and google, but who knows?  I wish I could remember the name of the technique.  Oh well.  I'll update if I remember or find out. 

Although I would never be able to pull off wearing something like this, it is gorgeous!  It would be fun to have just to admire!  :)  

That &%$#&_(*&^!#&* yarn!!!!

What in the %$#&*%$*!#$% is the deal with skeins or hanks of yarn??  How is it that 'yarn' has been in existence this long and STILL no one has come up with a decent way for it to be wound and then used?!?  

I found this beautiful wool blend yarn from Araucania.  It's a machine washable yarn which is wonderful and it's a beautiful blue colorway.  It's wound in a "hank" when purchased and you then have to roll it in a ball for ease of use.  Any of you who crochet even a little bit, know it's a big circle when you 'unroll' the hank.  I searched for the first end I could find and began to roll it up.  It didn't take long before it started to bunch up and get itself tangled into a huge ball of mess.  I spent more than 2 hours trying to 'un-knot' the hank and I only have a tennis ball size of yarn rolled and the rest is a nest of confusion! 

Maybe that should be my next project.  Figure out a way to wind yarn up for retail AND for use!  :-)  

FINALLY!

Holy j-peg Batman!  I thought I'd never get those pictures up today!  I started this horrible process, (Ok, comical and just plain zoned-process) approx. 11am.  It is now 1pm and I'm finally done!  I am not used to these blogs as I really don't spend any time doing it.  I know what's going on in my life, it's boring, but yet it's looney tunes too!  Med calls me his "Little Lucy".  I don't care, I love her!  She IS the queen of comedy!

I've had these pictures in a file on my desktop for a while now, and I finally decided to upload them to this blog just for my own notes.  It will be a visual journal of items I've either made, am in the process of and those I will make.  I'll finally document all the particulars for the item as well, so if I want to do it again, I'll know what worked and what didn't.  I can't trust my memory for that many details!  Heck, I'm lucky to remember which way I'm going on a row and crochet backwards!  (That's for another post. *g*)

I had uploaded, typed the titles and descriptions of each picture into my Photobucket acct.  I had it before Flikr and I'm used to it.  I wasn't going to change.  But alas, Blogger doesn't like my photobucket slideshow, so I had to transfer everything to Flikr and voila!  They're here!  

It took me so long because I'm stubborn and I kept trying and trying the link from photobucket, but I finally needed to pee and decided what the hell, put 'em on Flikr.  

It's after my lunch time and I'm a little bit hungry.  Poor me.  I have to eat left over fettuccine Alfredo w/grilled chicken and toasted garlic bread from Angelino's, last night.  It's possibly the best I've had and it's delivery!  Thick, rich, and flavorful sauce w/toasted Parmesan crumbs on top.  

Oh shoot....I gotta go.  Now I'm hungry!!  ;)

Ready? Set? Crochet!

Well, here we are.  I'll be posting pictures and stories regarding some of the crocheting I'm doing.  I learned to crochet in nursing school from my left handed roommate.  We had a tough time getting started, but then we came up with the great idea of putting her on the floor leaning against the sofa and I would sit behind her on the sofa.  We placed a good size mirror in her lap and I watched her hands in the mirror and voila!  I learned to crochet the basics!  I kept up with it for awhile, but soon tired of it.  I was in my early 20's and there were sooooooo many other fun things to do!  *G*

I later picked it back up again and made quite a few things.  Afghans mostly.  I made several actually and only gave one away back then!  I still have the very first 2 I made.  I tried to 'teach myself' new stitches and techniques, but my ADD and dyslexia were much stronger than my desire to crochet, so I again put it down after a few years. 

I hadn't picked up a crochet hook in more than 10 years, but now it's 2010 and I've picked it back up yet again and this time I'm enjoying it and loving it more than ever.  It's been a sort of therapy for me and it's also kept me from 'eating' when I needed something to do with my hands. 

I've purchased books that are helping me to learn those stitches I thought I'd never learn and new stitches I never knew existed!  I'm experimenting with different and more expensive and exotic yarns.  I've made things now I never thought I could or would ever know how to make.  I'm working on a practice tank top right now, before I try it out on a more expensive yarn I've been dying to try!
